Description of Duties

This is a professional position located at the Department of Public Health responsible for developing, promoting and monitoring the service delivery system of the Early Intervention Program (EIP) for infants and toddlers (birth to three [3] years of age) and their families.  Duties involve participating in the development of local policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local regulations, identifying gaps in service and recommending resolutions.  Duties also involve staff development activities in the form of in-service training and monitoring.  This position differs from the Assistant Health Services Coordinator by virtue of its supervisory responsibility, increased administrative and fiscal responsibilities such as attending management meetings, managing complaints and concerns, and having less direct contact with clients.  The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a higher level staff member.  General supervision is exercised over a subordinate staff such as Assistant Health Services Coordinators.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements on or before the date of the written exam: 

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

(A)      Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience working with children in any structured, organized program or service including, but not limited to, education, counseling, health, and  sports; OR,

(B)        Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree plus four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience as described in (A) above; OR,

(C)        Six (6) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience as described in (A) above; OR,

(D)        An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C) above.

Special Requirements:

If you are appointed you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test for employment with Monroe County Government.
