Description of Duties

This is a senior level technical position responsible for overseeing and participating in stormwater, industrial waste, and/or pollution prevention projects.  This position differs from Industrial Waste Technician by virtue of scheduling field work, assigning staff, and providing lead supervision to crews on various project work.  The employee must be able to move fifty (50) pounds.  The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of an Industrial Waste Engineer or other higher-level staff member.  Lead supervision may be exercised over a technical staff.  Does related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

(A)  Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering or a closely related field, or one of the natural or physical sciences, plus one (1) year paid full‑time or its part‑time equivalent experience in either storm water field investigations, or infrastructure design or maintenance, or water or wastewater chemical testing, or natural resources inspection, design or maintenance in a natural resources field, or in the process operation (i.e. an active operator in the day‑to‑day operation) of an industrial waste control facility, water treatment facility, waste water facility, or pollution control facility; OR,

(B)  Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering or a closely related field, or one of the natural or physical sciences, plus three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as defined in (A) above; OR,

(C)  Five (5) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as defined in (A) above; OR,

(D) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C) above.
