Indigent Legal Services Data Officer

Description of Duties
This position, located at the Public Defender’s Office and Department of Public Safety (Conflict Defender’s Officer) is responsible for working with criminal justice data in order to comply with increased data reporting requirements imposed by the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services. Duties involve working with an extensive case management system, database maintenance, training and supporting users, and generating reports. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Public Defender, Conflict Defender, or other higher level staff member.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER:
(A) Three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience in data base management; OR,
(B) Three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* paralegal experience or office secretarial or clerical experience involving legal work and analyzing and reporting data in a structured environment; OR,
(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
