Wastewater Equipment Specialist

Description of Duties

This is a technical position in the Department of Environmental Services, Pure Waters Division responsible for day-to-day tracking, evaluation, and analysis of equipment needs for the department. Work also involves equipment repair, troubleshooting and maintenance. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of a managerial level employee.  Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class. 

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER:

1. Four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience in equipment or automotive repair and maintenance, one (1) year of which must have involved related office duties such as ordering parts and equipment, maintaining records, billing, writing specifications for sales and service; OR,

2. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree and two (2) years of experience as defined in (A) above, one (1) year of which must have involved related office duties such as ordering parts and equipment, maintaining records, billing, writing specifications for sales and service; OR,

3. Any equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
