Description of Duties

This is a custodial position responsible for the direction of the supervision, counseling and corrective direction of adolescent youth (ages ten [10] ‑ eighteen [18]) who reside in the Monroe County Children’s Center (a Specialized/Secure Detention Facility) usually by court order.  Duties include court ordered transporting of youth as well as participation in the orientation and training of Youth Detention Workers who work a variety of shifts and schedules.  This position differs from Youth Detention Worker by virtue of its higher level of responsibility regarding the supervision and scheduling of staff and assistance to medical staff.  The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a Supervising Youth Detention Worker or other higher-level staff member.  Lead supervision is exercised over Youth Detention Workers.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be permanently employed in the non-competitive class at the Monroe County Department of Human Services and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Youth Detention Worker (formerly Child Care Worker) immediately preceding the date of the written test.
