Description of Duties
This is a specialized law enforcement position in a town or village police department responsible for the investigation of
crimes, apprehension of criminals and general prevention of criminal activity. Duties involve working independently or as a
member of a team on unresolved investigations or to enhance solved cases and are performed in accordance with Federal,
State, and local laws, rules, regulations and ordinances. Assignments are made to specific cases and priorities set by a
supervising officer. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a higher ranking police
official.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at the Town of Greece and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for thirty-six (36) months holding the position of Police Officer immediately preceding the date of the written test.
