Description of Duties

This professional position, located at the Monroe County Department of Human Services, is responsible for directing the
planning, coordination and program development of a system of public and private services for youth charged as juvenile
delinquents, status offenders, or youthful offenders. The Juvenile Justice Services Planner works in conjunction with other
local juvenile/criminal justice and youth services providers in monitoring existing programs for youth and their families and
providing direction in the development and organization of emerging programs. Duties involve recruiting, overseeing,
leading, and staffing representatives of the local Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) program in partnership with
the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Duties also involve
developing a variety of program plans related to child and family services. The employee reports directly to, and works
under the general supervision of the Director of Child and Family Services or other higher level staff member.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master's degree in
Social Work, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Human Relations, Human Development and Family Studies, Child
and Family Studies, Child Development, Social and Cultural Diversity or a closely related field, or a psychology,
sociology, or counseling field plus three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* professional experience in
casework, social work, counseling, or providing rehabilitative referral services to community agencies two (2) years
of which must have included implementing a program that serves youth (up to and including age twenty-one [21]); OR,
(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree
in one of the fields mentioned in (A) above, plus four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* professional
experience in casework, social work, counseling, or providing rehabilitative referral services to community agencies,
two (2) years of which must have included implementing a program that serves youth (up to and including age
twenty-one [21]); OR,
(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
