Description of Duties

This is a technical position responsible for assisting with purchasing supplies, equipment and services for a school district or other governmental unit.  Duties are performed in accordance with General Municipal Law, board policy, regulations and established procedures.  The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a Purchasing Agent or other higher-level staff member.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

  1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience in purchasing supplies and equipment, preparation of materials and services specifications, AND selection of vendors; OR,
  1. Four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience as defined in (A) above; OR,
  1. An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

NOTEGraduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s degree in Business or Public Administration may be substituted for one (1) year of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience.
