Description of Duties

This position, located at the Department of Parks, is responsible for overseeing the parks reservations and special events activities. Duties involve providing leadership and guidance to the reservation staff and deals with the public and key stakeholders regarding special events, atypical requests, and related questions. This position differs from Parks Representative by virtue of handling the more difficult situations relating to event scheduling and reservations including balancing needs of competing groups of people for county parks access and evaluating and improving upon current processes.  The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Deputy Director of Parks or other higher-level staff member. Lead supervision is exercised over Parks Representatives and clerical staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER:

(A)        Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in a communications, public relations or marketing field plus one (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience in facility scheduling, event coordination, or secretarial/office clerical experience ALL of which must have involved public contact work; OR,

(B)        Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in one of the above fields plus three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience in facility scheduling, event coordination, or secretarial/office clerical experience ALL of which must have involved public contact work; OR,

(C)        Five (5) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience in facility scheduling, event coordination, or secretarial/office clerical experience ALL of which must have involved public contact work; OR,

(D)        An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C) above.

Special Requirements:

If you are appointed you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.
