Description of Duties

This is an administrative and managerial position in the Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health Services responsible for assisting the Office of Mental Health Director in planning, evaluating and monitoring programs under contract with providers of services to those affected by mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), alcohol and substance use disorder. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Office of Mental Health Director or other higher-level staff member.  General supervision is exercised over administrative staff and forensic clinic staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements on or before the date of the written exam: 

 Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER:

(A)       Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s degree in Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Nursing, Psychology, Public Administration, Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Human Services Administration, Behavioral Health Science, Strategic or Organizational Leadership or a closely related field plus six (6) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience providing services to people who have a diagnosis of mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorder; OR,

(B)        Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in one of the fields mentioned in (A) above plus seven (7) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience providing services to people who have a diagnosis of mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorder; OR,

(C)        An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above. 

Special Requirements:

If you are appointed you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test for employment with Monroe County Government.
