Description of Duties
This is a specialized technical position in the Department of Health, Office of the Medical Examiner responsible for assisting in identifying and quantitating toxic substances in post mortem tissues. Work further involves responsibility for record management, inventory and related clerical duties. The employee reports directly to and works under general supervision of a senior-level staff member with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgement. Does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Laboratory Technology, or Medical Technology, plus two (2) years full-time or its part-time equivalent laboratory experience in clinical, analytical, or forensic toxicology; OR,
(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Laboratory Technology, or Medical Technology, or Forensic Science; OR,
(C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
