Network Technician

Description of Duties
This is an entry-level technical position involving responsibility for the installation, operation and repair of user equipment that comprises part of the telecommunications network such as micro processors, computer terminals, printers and modems. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of a senior staff member; employees travel to various departments that are on‑line to service computer equipment. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class.
Minimum Qualifications
BOCES #1, Monroe Community College:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at one of the agencies above and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months holding the position of Help Desk Assistant or in the non-competitive class for twenty-four (24) months holding the position Microcomputer Maintenance Technician immediately preceding the date of the written test.
A combination of time served in multiple titles sufficient to meet the maximum period of required service is also qualifying.
Brockport, Hilton and Webster Central School District:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the non-competitive class at one of the agencies and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Microcomputer Maintenance Technician immediately preceding the date of the written test.
