Emergency Medical Technician COVID - Temporary

Description of Duties
This is a temporary, emergency medical technical position responsible for providing emergency first aid and crisis intervention to the general public while providing support to the COVID-19 task force. Duties involve performing a wide variety of functions relating to the COVID-19 response that include, but are not limited to, assisting in processing the testing of individuals, determining adequate test samples are collected, stored and screened properly, responding to triage questions and concerns from the public as they enter COVID-19 test sites, and assisting in ensuring individuals are properly registered for a COVID-19 test at a site. Duties also involve assisting with COVID-19 test result notifications and the efficient flow of traffic at COVID-19 test sites. Training will be provided.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus possession of a valid certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at any level* issued by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
*EMT, EMT-Intermediate (AEMT-1), EMT-Critical Care (AEMT-CC), EMT-Paramedic (AEMT-P)
Candidates for employment with Monroe County Government will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test, along with a background investigation. Failure to meet the standards may result in disqualification.
If you are appointed, you will be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.
