Description of Duties
This is an entry-level technical position involving responsibility for the installation, operation and repair of user equipment that comprises part of the telecommunications network such as micro processors, computer terminals, printers and modems. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of a senior staff member; employees travel to various departments that are on‑line to service computer equipment. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class.
Minimum Qualifications
BOCES #1; Webster Central School District:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at BOCES #1 or the Webster Central School District and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months holding the position of Help Desk Assistant, or in the non-competitive class for twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Micro Computer Maintenance Technician immediately preceding the date of the written test.
A combination of time served in multiple titles sufficient to meet the maximum period of required service is also qualifying.
Brockport Central School District:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the non-competitive class at the Brockport Central School District and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Micro Computer Maintenance Technician immediately preceding the date of the written test
Fairport Central School District:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at the Fairport Central School District and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months holding the position of Computer Hardware Installer immediately preceding the date of the written test
West Irondequoit Central School District:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at the West Irondequoit Central School District and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months holding the position of Help Desk Assistant immediately preceding the date of the written test.
