Senior Maintenance Technician/Operator

Description of Duties
This is a senior level position located at the Department of Environmental Services responsible for assisting the Assistant Sewer Collection Supervisor in establishing operational performance standards with the operation and maintenance of sewer collection equipment and systems. Duties involve crew deployment and supervision in the operation, inspection, preventative maintenance, and repair of the laterals and pipes of a sewage collection system including working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and during emergency situations. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Assistant Sewer Collection Supervisor or other higher-level staff member with leeway allowed to exercise independent judgment in planning work details. Lead supervision is exercised over operations and maintenance crews.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed at the Monroe County Department of Environmental Services and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months holding the competitive position of Senior Pure Waters Technician or twenty-four (24) months holding the competitive position of Pure Waters Technician or the non-competitive position of Maintenance Technician/Operator immediately preceding the date of the written test.
