Station Mechanic - Mechanical

Description of Duties
This is a technical mechanical position responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, modification and redesign of mechanical process equipment in a wastewater treatment plant and wastewater collection systems as well as the proper maintenance and upkeep of buildings and facilities mechanical equipment. Work is performed in accordance with department and industrial standards. The employee must respond to emergencies, work under a variety of schedules and conditions including all types of weather and various heights and spaces (such as cramped spaces), and move items weighing up to approximately eighty (80) pounds. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a Senior Station Mechanic-Mechanical, Principal Station Mechanic-Mechanical or other higher level staff member. The employee acts as a lead (working) supervisor of crews in the field.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed in the non-competitive class at Monroe County Department of Environmental Services and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Maintenance Mechanic I, or Maintenance Mechanic II immediately preceding the date of the written test.
