Senior Station Mechanic - Instrumentation

Description of Duties
This is a senior-level technician position located in the Department of Environmental Services, responsible for the design, troubleshooting, repair, modification and upgrade of process equipment in a wastewater treatment plant and wastewater collection systems as well as the proper maintenance and upkeep of buildings and facilities instrumentation equipment. Work is performed in accordance with department and industrial standards. This position differs from Station Mechanic ‑ Instrumentation by virtue of its expanded scope, and responsibility for supervising, managing, organizing, documenting and scheduling the day to day workload and workforce of a functional area. The employee responds to emergencies, works under a variety of schedules and conditions including in all types of weather and various heights and spaces (such as cramped spaces), and moves items weighing up to approximately eighty (80) pounds. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a Principal Station Mechanic-Electrical and Instrumentation, Supervisor of Electrical Operations or other higher level staff member with wide leeway allowed for independent judgment when planning work details. General supervision is exercised over Station Mechanics-Instrumentation and other subordinate staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at the Monroe County Department of Environmental Services and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months holding the position of Station Mechanic – Instrumentation immediately preceding the date of the written test.
