Plant Mechanic

Description of Duties
This is a mechanical position responsible for a wide variety of skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance and repair of various types of mechanical equipment used in water treatment, pumping and storage facilities for the Monroe County Water Authority. Work requires inspection of various areas within the treatment plant and offsite locations including booster pumping stations, tanks and reservoirs. Employees are required to climb ladders or stairs and enter confined or restricted spaces including subgrade facilities and maneuver or work in tight quarters around machinery. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Mechanical Maintenance with detailed review and instructions provided for new and complex assignments. General supervision may be exercised over plant maintenance employees for specific projects or tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed in the non-competitive class at the Monroe County Water Authority and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months holding the position of Maintenance Mechanic II or twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Maintenance Mechanic III immediately preceding the date of the written test.
