Assistant Receptionist

Description of Duties
This is an entry-level position responsible for performing reception duties for a department or office. Duties involve answering phones, greeting and directing visitors, providing information to the public, processing paperwork and other clerical work. This position differs from Receptionist by virtue of handling less complex questions requiring less independent judgment and handling less sensitive situations. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a clerical employee or other higher level staff member.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER:
- Six (6) months paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* office clerical experience; OR,
- Successful completion of fifteen (15) college semester credit hours at a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
