Description of Duties

This supervisory position is responsible for the operation of various programs initiated for adolescent youth (ages ten [10] – eighteen [18]) who reside in the Monroe County Children’s Center (a Specialized/Secure Detention Facility) usually by court order. Duties include the court ordered transporting of youth.  Duties also include coordinating and implementing orientation and training of Senior Youth Detention Workers and Youth Detention Workers who work a variety of shifts and schedules.  This position differs from Senior Youth Detention Worker by virtue of the overall supervision provided to staff and youth at the Children’s Center, and the overall development of procedures and training.  The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Assistant Coordinator of the Children’s Center or other higher level staff member.  General supervision is exercised over Youth Detention Workers, Senior Youth Detention Workers and other staff. 

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class in the Monroe County Department of Human Services and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months holding the position of Senior Youth Detention Worker (formerly Senior Child Care Worker) immediately preceding the date of the written test.
