Semi-Skilled Auto Mechanic

Description of Duties
This is a semi-skilled mechanic position responsible for performing routine work relating to the automotive and diesel mechanic trade. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a Senior Automotive Maintenance Mechanic or other higher level staff member. Does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
(A) One (1) year of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as a skilled worker in one or more of the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades; OR,
(B) Graduation from a technical high school or trade school with a major in the electrical, mechanical or construction trades; OR,
(C) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Automotive Mechanics, Automotive Technology, Apprentice Training-Automotive, Automotive and Diesel Technology, Automotive/Diesel and Industrial Technology, or a closely related field; OR,
(D) Possession of a Certificate from a technical institute or regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university in one of the fields mentioned in (B) above; OR,
(E) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), (C) and (D) above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain a New York State Class *B* Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) license by the end of the probationary period. Failure to obtain appropriate licenses will result in termination from the position.
