Description of Duties

This position is responsible for the management of arrest and investigation information and proper assignments of cases in the felony bureaus of the District Attorney’s Office. Duties involve daily contact with City and Town Court clerks and police agencies in setting-up preliminary hearings, prioritization of cases for screening by supervisory attorneys, and identification of cases for special prosecution programs. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Chief District Attorney Administrator or other higher-level staff member, with latitude allowed for independent judgment and establishing priorities. General supervision is exercised over Criminal Law Assistants, Criminal Law Specialists and data entry clerical staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma; plus EITHER:
 
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration,Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Political Science, Liberal Arts or a closely related field, plus two (2) years paid full-time or it’s part-time equivalent professional* experience in a public legal environment or law enforcement agency responsible for either conducting legal research or investigations, OR program planning, monitoring and evaluation, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR,
 
(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Political Science, Liberal Arts or a closely related field, plus four (4) years paid full-time or it’s part-time equivalent professional* experience as defined in (A) above, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR,
 
(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
 
*Professional experience for the purpose of these minimum qualifications, does not include clerical, labor, maintenance or similar activities.
