This is a senior level supervisory position in the Department of Parks responsible for supervising the repair and maintenance of park grounds, recreational areas, shelters and lodges in an assigned park within a large park system. Employees are on call twenty four (24) hours a day to respond to emergency calls and may be required to work in inclement weather. The employee works under general supervision from, and reports directly to, an administrative level staff member. Direct supervision is exercised over park maintenance crews.

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and either:

 

(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree, plus two (2) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience in park maintenance and repair activities, one year (1) which shall have been in a supervisory capacity; OR,

 

(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree, plus four (4) years of experience as described in (A) two (2) years which shall have been in a supervisory capacity; OR,

 

(C) Six (6) years of experience as specified in (A) two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.

 

NOTE: Where minimum educational requirements are not fully met, additional work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for general work experience. There is no substitute for the required supervisory experience.
