Description of Duties

This is an administrative position responsible for the supervision of the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities. Operations include screening and grit removal, primary settling, sludge thickening, biological secondary treatment using the activated sludge process and chemical precipitation for wastewater flows greater than ten (10) million gallons per day. This position differs from Senior Water Resource Recovery Operator by virtue of having a higher level of accountability, being responsible for the operations of the facilities in the absence of the Chief Water Resource Recovery Operator, and developing policies and programs. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Chief Water Resource Recovery Operator or other higher-level staff member. General supervision is exercised over Senior Water Resource Recovery Operators.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class in the Monroe County Department of Environmental Services and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Senior Water Resource Recovery Operator (formerly Pollution Control Operator) immediately preceding the date of the written test.
