Senior Public Health Sanitarian

Description of Duties
This is a senior-level professional position responsible for performing complex and difficult environmental health and sanitary activities. Employees assist in planning, directing, and implementing all aspects of the Department's environmental health program as applied to camps, lead poisoning prevention, housing and rabies, West Nile Virus, smoking code enforcement, lead poisoning prevention, housing and rabies, food service establishments, water and sewage systems. This classification differs from the lower, Public Health Sanitarian, by virtue of its responsibility for participating in higher-level activities such as the enforcement of environmental health laws, codes, and local ordinances. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of, Associate Public Health Sanitarians and/or Senior and Associate Public Health Engineers. General supervision may be exercised over Public Health Sanitarians and other departmental personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class in the Monroe County Department of Public Health and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Public Health Sanitarian immediately preceding the date of the written test.
