Description of Duties
This professional public health position is responsible for planning, directing, and administering environmental health programs for Monroe County. Duties include providing leadership in the promotion of public health through the application of environmental health practices and the enforcement of provisions of local law and New York State Department of Health environmental health rules contained in Chapter I and Chapter II of Title 10 of the New York State Compilation of Codes, Rules and Regulations relative to environmental health matters. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Commissioner of Public Health. General supervision is exercised over a subordinate professional environmental health staff such as Senior Public Health Engineers, Principal Public Health Sanitarians Associate Public Health Sanitarians.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at the Monroe County Department of Public Health and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months in the title of Associate Public Health Sanitarian or Senior Health Engineer immediately preceding the date of the written test.
A combination of time served in multiple titles sufficient to meet the maximum period of required service is also qualifying.
