Description of Duties

This position, located in the Department of Transportation, is responsible for the operation of a computerized traffic signal
control system. Duties involve monitoring traffic flow and modifying traffic signal timings based on traffic conditions caused
by traffic accidents, weather and construction. Duties also involve receiving and resolving customer complaints, dispatching
messages to maintenance crews, and maintaining and updating databases. The employee reports directly to, and works
under the general supervision of a Senior Traffic Signal Control Operator or other higher-level staff member.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus; EITHER:

(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's
degree in an information technology, computer science, management information systems or engineering field plus
one (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience either monitoring or operating a computerized traffic
signal control system, or dispatching; OR,

(B) Three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience as defined in (A) above; OR,

(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
