Nutrition Assistant

Description of Duties
This position in the Monroe County Public Health Department provides a wide range of psychosocial, low risk nutrition,
and breastfeeding information to clients of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Work also includes
providing support to professional WIC staff. The work is conducted in accordance with WIC regulations, guidelines and
procedures. Work may be conducted on weekends and in the evenings. The employee reports directly to and works
under general supervision of a senior-level staff member.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma; PLUS either:
(A) One (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent*** experience* in a health, social service, or visiting nurse
setting, OR providing classroom instruction in an educational setting; OR,
(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's
degree in human services** or social science; OR,
(C) Any equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
*Acceptable experience does not include maintenance, cleaning, or related experience.
**Human services include social work, social welfare, vocational and psychological counseling and educational
psychology.
