Description of Duties

This is a hands-on technical management position located at the Department of Information Services responsible for
assisting the department head develop a strategic plan for directing and coordinating the network and server design and
the installation and connectivity of computer systems and network infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of
information technology assets. Duties include the analysis, design, deployment, and operations of software and hardware
systems, developing and establishing information technology infrastructure standards and procedures, and assigning
work to the operations staff to ensure networks and data centers are properly maintained. General supervision is
exercised over a subordinate technical staff. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision
of the Director of Information Services or other higher level staff member.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s degree
in a computer or information technology field plus five (5) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent***
experience in information technology specializing in network or microcomputer client/server technologies, three
(3) years of which must have been in either a lead supervisory capacity* or a supervisory capacity**; OR,
(B) Bachelor’s degree in one of the fields mentioned in (A) above plus six (6) years paid full-time or its part-time
equivalent*** experience in information technology specializing in network or microcomputer client/server
technologies, three (3) years of which must have been in either a lead supervisory capacity* or a supervisory
capacity**; OR,
(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by limits of (A) and (B) above.
