Description of Duties
This is a skilled paraprofessional position involving responsibility for applying occupational therapy treatments to residents** or for assisting an Occupational Therapist in the application of treatment procedures in a health care facility. The work is performed under the direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist who evaluates the patient, develops the treatment plan, and designates treatment procedures to be followed in conjunction with the Occupational Therapy Assistant. Employees in this class monitor resident progress and report observations to the Occupational Therapist who modifies the treatment in conjunction with the Occupational Therapy Assistant to promote maximum rehabilitative and restorative measures. Supervision may be exercised over the work of Occupational Therapy Aides. Does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Certification by New York State Education Department as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
